News Update
September 24, 2008 - A message from the Board President…
At our regular board meeting on September 17, 2008, the board formally adopted a vision statement
for the ETCDC. With 19 board members in attendance, Bruce Anderson and Danni Varlan facilitated a 75
minute discussion about the purpose of a vision statement and what it is intended to do. Examples of
other organization’s vision statements were reviewed, along with what the vision statement should
mean to the organization. Following a healthy discussion with broad participation, the Board unanimously
voted to make “Better Communities By Design” the official vision statement for the organization. The
mission statement will remain the same. Our board retreat set for October 30 will focus on crafting a
strategic plan that supports our mission and vision. — Chuck Morris
